Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art: Black and White Minimalism

Greetings and Nailutations,

It's a Digit-al Dozen week and you know what that means?  Five days of nail art with one theme.  This week it is Art!  Now I will preface this by saying I am not the best at free handing art, so I needed to find pieces of art that go with my skill set (i.e. scribbling).  :)  I also wanted to fit in a Black and White mani for the Nail Challenge Collaborative.  Two themes and 1 mani!  BOOM!  Here is the inspiration piece of art: After Botticelli by Brice Marden (B. 1938)

Lets get to the details!

Products used:
Drip Drop Nail Paint - Tighty Whities
Simply Spoiled - Nail Art Pen
Heather's Hues - Top That Top Coat, Heart of the Matter Top Coat

I also had to try with matte top coat.

My husband enjoys art like this, but for me it's too angsty. He asked me what I meant by angsty.  I told him that it has no closure in the story and leaves things all up in the air.  Is it just me?  Do you enjoy art like this?  It has opened my eyes to it, but the jury is still out on whether I enjoy it.

Now - please for the love of art look at some of the art work done by fellow Digit-al Dozen members - I have been blown away!  I also included links to other amazing black and white manis too!

Happy Painting,
Kristi aka BeginNails

  1. This feature is so much fun. I'd be totally inspired if I actually had any talent for nail art. :D

  2. I can see angsty in this but if it's just a day or two I could wear it.

    1. I think angsty is really fun to say...which isn't angsty at all. My husband laughed at me when I told him it looked angsty.

  8. I really love this. It's one of those art thingies that I love on nails more than on canvas ;)

  11. I kind of like art like this and end up making up images in my head from random lines.

    1. I like that reasoning. I wish I was more artistic. Sometimes I just stare at a swatch with no clue what to do.

  13. This reminds me of one of those things we used to do in school - dip a long thread or twine in ink, place it randomly in a blank notebook, close the notebook tightly, and then pull the thread/twine out. The result used to be beautiful designs such as the art here! Do try that one out - it's absolute fun.
