A Weekly Dose of Rainbows: Watermarble

It's the first of March...ok, well it was yesterday.  The first of every month the A Weekly Does Of Rainbow group on Facebook has a prompt for rainbows.  This month the prompt was watermarble.  I decided to try something I hadn't tried before and I ended up really pleased with the look.

Rainbow Splatter

Greetings and Nailutations,

It's February 1st, which means a new A Weekly Dose of Rainbows prompt!  This month the theme is splatter!  I've only tried splatter once before and I've tried using a bobby pin and it worked "ok."  This time I wanted to try another technique for splatter.  What exactly did I use?  An old TOOTHBRUSH! I didn't want to get polish all over my splattering hand, so I looked for a latex glove and realized all we had was vinyl gloves (my husband has them for administering topical medicine to our cat which impacts humans).  FYI - POLISH AND VINYL DO NOT MIX!!  Haha, oops - evidently I wasn't paying attention in chemistry....or maybe it was the glass of wine?

For me, the splattering is a little to subtle and the bobby pin worked a lot better.  In the future I won't attempt toothbrush splattering.  I would have liked to see a strong splatter effect.  Also...does anyone else see the splatter that looks like an animal or it just me?

Are you still celebrating?  I still have family in town and so I have been busy hosting gatherings at the house, laughing at memories and being merry with the niece and nephews.  :)  This was the first year my immediate family (folks, grandma, middle sister and her husband and son and daughter as well as the youngest sister and her husband and son) flew down all at the same time for a holiday.  It was fun, a little overwhelming and full of laughter and good food.

Digit-al Dozen: December Visions of Sugar Plums

Today is Day 4 of the prompt December for the Digit-al Dozen.  I tried to think of stories that are told in December and Twas The Night Before Christmas popped into my mind.  I remember reading this short story/poem as a child and still love it as an adult.  I decided to make this one simple, because visions of sugar plums made me think of the simple things children dream of.  :)

It's Day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen theme of December.  Today I decided to be inspired by the wintry weather (ok....obviously NOT the weather where I am) of December.  It's supposed to be 76 F (25 C) this week.  I did experience white Christmases as a child in the state of Washington though, so I had to revisit my childhood memories to create this look.

One of my favorite holo collections is from K*Sea Gale's Nails called the 7 Grandfather Teachings Collection.  The collection contains 7 colors to create a soft rainbow and I swatched and reviewed them back in April.  Not only did I love the assortment of colors, I loved the story behind the polish names.  I wanted to create a separate blog post for some of the nail art I did that really showcases the amazing properties of this collection.

Today I have a sample of the Halloween collection from K*Sea Gale's Nails.  The Halloween Collection contains a total of 9 polishes as well as a pumpkin spice cuticle oil.  The 5 that I have are all holographic - yes that's right, rainbow sparkles baby!  Photos are in both filtered light and simulated sunlight to get the full holo effect.

Today I will be sharing the Seven Grandfather Teachings Collection from K*Sea Gale's Nails.  K*Sea Gale's Nails recently rebranded from Super Nails and is releasing six (yes 6!) new collections on May 1st to celebrate.  The Seven Grandfather Teachings Collection contains 7 holographic polishes inspired by a Native American story that KC's (owner of K*Sea Gale's Nails) husband's tribe, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe publish in their tribal newspaper.
