We are onto day 3 of the Digit-al Dozen continuing with our Futuristic prompt.  Another movie that popped into my head was the one with the blue critters...  SMURFS?!  NO!  I thought of Avatar.  The 3+ hour feature film that was amazing, yet really long.  I googled a few images and decided to make a mani based on their skin patterns.

It is a Digit-al Dozen week and our prompt is Futuristic.  I will be honest - I was dreading this prompt because I had a difficult time coming up with ideas.  My husband stepped in with a few ideas and then I started feeling better about it.  All my manis are based on television/movies that take place in the future.  As you can tell by the blog title, this one is based on the movie Idiocracy, which is about how social media and being able to use computers to think for humans may actually cause humans to evolve to be dumber.  It's a comedy and to make it interesting one person is frozen and wakes up in the future and tries to help save the world...

Today is the last day of the Digit-al Dozen Week Story Genres.  The entire week I have use actual books for my inspiration which coincidentally were also movies!  Today is no different and I am using True Grit, a western for my inspiration.  There are actually 2 movies, one from 1969 and one from 2010.  I read the book first and then watched the 2010 movie and then the 1969.  I am a Jeff Bridges fan, so I really enjoyed the 2010 version and the book is great too!

For the 30 Days of Colour Challenge (where you attempt to utilize those polishes that sit untried in your drawer) the prompt is Earth Day!  Did you know Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970?  I decided on a minimalism mani and selected a green pastel with blue micro-flecks to symbolize Earth.

Digit-al Dozen: Get To Know Honey Honey

Greetings and Nailutations,

It is Day 3 of Get To Know Me for the Digit-al Dozen and I figured I would post about something that I collect, love and respect.  BEES!!!  It all started when I was a child - my grandfather nick named me "Honey Honey" and from there, I seemed to be attracted to bees.  I got my first sting because as a toddler, I wanted to pet the furry insects.  OOPS!  (Lesson learned.)  My attraction continue through grade school and when I reached high school I had to do a "senior project" which entailed a paper, poster and presentation.  I decided to jump into beekeeping.  It was one of the coolest experiences I have ever done working with a local beekeeper in Washington state.  I even continued the obsession into my wedding and it was bee themed.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Winter Citrus Mani

Continuing with my blog resolutions, I am adding more nail art to my blog.  Today I am sharing a mani for The Nail Challenge Collaborative.  The theme for the month is "winter."  I was trying to think of what winter means in Arizona (a state in the USA that is mostly desert).  November through January is citrus season here!  Our 7 citrus trees are bright and bearing fruit right now (1 lemon, 1 cocktail, 1 grapefruit and 4 orange trees).  (A cocktail tree is a grafted tree where each branch has a different fruit - so there is a branch of navel oranges, grapefruit, lemon, tangerine and lime.)  So, I decided to make a citrus mani!
