Digit-al Dozen: The Lady of the Rainforest

Greetings and Nailutations,

It is Day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen theme: Rainforest.  I decided to do a Ladybug (or Ladybird or Ladybird Beetles or Lady Beetles) mani.  Ladybugs are not just rainforest critters - they are everywhere (for the most part) but they are still adorable, so hence this mani.

Now let's get to the details.

Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art: Who's Afraid of Primary Colors?

Greetings and Nailutations,

It's day numero 2 for the Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art prompt.  During my search for art on the inter-webs I wanted something simple and vibrant.  That led me to a piece entitled Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue? from Barnett Newman.  This piece stuck with me due to use of dominant red and how it takes over the image.

Now let's get to the details!

Super Nails: LDR Thermal Collection Swatch and Review

Greetings and Nailutations,

*Press Sample*
Today I'm sharing a fun thermal collection inspired by Lana Del Rey songs from Super Nails.  So if you are a fan of thermals or Lana Del Rey, this is the collection for you!  (And if you love both, then this collection is perfect for you.)  One thing that was new for me to experience with this collection was thermal glitter.  Yes, that is right, you read that correctly....THERMAL GLITTER!  At first I was apprehensive about it....I mean, can it really work?  YES...YES IT CAN!

Now let's get to some swatches!

First up is my favorite of the three, Blue Jeans.  Blue Jeans is a blue-purple (blurple) glitter crelly that changed to a soft magenta when warm.  It contains blue hexes, teal diamonds, red, pink and turquoise small hexes & pink butterflies.  This thermal was very sensitive and I didn't need to use cold or hot water to get the transition photos.  While I swatched the other polishes, I kept this on upside down to encourage the larger glitters to move to the top of the bottle and when I went to swatch it, there was no glitter fishing.  Formula was easy to work with and applied nice.  Photos show 2 coats with shiny top coat.

Next is a glitter topper called Brooklyn Baby which contains thermal glitter.  The change is subtle, but the peach matte hexes change to white when warm.  Brooklyn Baby also contained iridescent teal, magenta and purple glitters to really make it sparkle.  The thermal glitter was also sensitive and all photos were taken with no warm/cold assistance other than room temperature and body temperature.  Photos show 2 coats dabbed on over Rimmel Black Satin and topped with a shiny top coat.

Gods and Monsters is a plum crelly with small pink hex glitters and black stars and when it's warm it changes to a pink.  Formula was easy to work with and applied evenly.  There was zero glitter fishing  for the stars.  This polish wasn't as sensitive as the other 2 and did need a little thermal assistance with an ice pack to get my tips to turn plum.  I love the accent of the black stars.  Photos show 2 coats with shiny top coat.

The last thermal is called Diet Mountain Dew.  Diet Mountain Dew is a dark forest green glitter crelly that shifts to a lighter green when warm.  It contains green hex glitter in a few sizes and shades.  This polish was sensitive as well and required no temperature assistance.  Photos show 2 coats with shiny top coat.

Shiny Top Coat: Gem Glam Top Coat from www.dreampolish.com

Loves: I love the sensitivity and colors of Blue Jeans and the butterflies are the perfect touch.  I also loved my first experience with thermal glitter.  I am now intrigued by thermal glitter and want to play with it more!  I also love the green shades of Diet Mountain Dew.  Super Nails products are also all 5-free, so they don't contain 5 of the harsh chemicals that can be found in polish.

Wishes:  I love this collection!  I almost wish it was a full CD full of songs....because I would love to see what KC (owner of Super Nails) could come up with!  I'm glad I did pick up some of her other thermals...which you shall see later!

Silly Bee's Chickadees Goodly Granizados Collection Swatch and Review

Greetings and Nailutations,

*Press Sample*
Today I have 4 polishes from Silly Bee's Chickadees Goodly Granizados Collection.  This collection was inspired by the tasty treats found in Costa Rica on Melissa's (owner of Silly Bee's Chickadees) trip last winter.  What I love about Silly Bee's Chickadees, is that her products always have a portion of the proceeds go towards a good cause that center around empowering and improving the lives of women, youth and children.  Currently, a portion of the proceeds will be going towards a non-profit called Polished Girlz.  Polished Girlz was started by a teenager, who wanted to make little girls who have to stay in hospitals for an extended period of time feel pretty by painting their nails.  It has now spun into an organization across the country that caters to many hospitals and also fund raising events (cancer walks, etc).  This is a fabulous organization!

Now let's get to some swatches!

First up is Naranja Granizado, a glitter topper that contains orange hex satin/matte hexes in a few sizes and iridescent micro glitters.  It is soft and pretty when over a similar color, and strikingly bright over a dark color.  Photos show 1 coat dabbed on over MPolish Apricot Delight and also over Rimmel's Black Satin topped with shiny top coat.

Next is Limón Granizado, a glitter topper that contains neon green hex satin/matte glitters in a few sizes and iridescent micro glitters.  This one is perfect for spring and reminds me of fresh leaves over a lighter similar color and neon lights over a darker color.  Photos show 1 coat dabbed on over MPolish Bells of Ireland and also over Rimmel's Black Satin topped with shiny top coat.

My favorite of the collection is up next and it is called Sandia Granizado.  Sandra Granizado contains light pink hex matte/satin glitters in a few shades as well as iridescent micro glitter.  It is so soft and perfect for work over a similar light color and is amazing over a dark color.  Photos show 1 coat dabbed on over MPolish Apple Blossom and also over Rimmel's Black Satin topped with a shiny top coat.

The last glitter topper of the collection is called Piña Granizado and contains yellow matte/satin hexes with iridescent micro glitters.  Photos show 1 coat dabbed on over MPolish Sweetclover and also over Rimmel's Black Satin topped with a shiny top coat.

Shiny Top Coat: Gem Glam Top Coat from Dream Polish

Loves: Great formulas, that make application super easy!  These polishes are also 3-free so they don't contain 3 of the nasty chemicals that can be in polish.  I also love that when you purchase polish from Silly Bee's you know you are supporting a good cause.  The combination of matte glitters with iridescent really creates a great look and I love them over a dark color to really make them pop.

Wishes:  I'd love to see these looks in other colors as well (lavender, light blue, grey/silver).
