Digit-al Dozen: A Snow Scene Is In My Home

It is the final day of Digit-al Dozen week for December and for 2017 for that matter and the theme has been My Home.  Since it's near Christmas you have been seeing manis inspired by my Christmas tree ornaments - because the tree is in my home!  :)  Today's ornament is a new one from last year.  When my husband and I got married we decided to purchase a "fancy" ornament each year (usually we purchase it after Christmas so we can get the sale).  Fancy means glass, crystal, ceramic, with beautiful artistic imagery.  This is one of our Wedgwood ornaments and one of my recent favorites.

It is the last day of our trip around the world visiting different continents for the Digit-al Dozen.  I decided on a theme of artwork and challenged myself to freehand everything and I succeeded.  Today is last stop on the tour through 5 continents and I was inspired by The Maasia by David Ndambuki.

It is Day 4 of the Digit-al Dozen, where I am charged with hitting 5 continents and doing manis inspired by them.  I've been to North America, South America and Australia using art work to inspire my nail art.  Today I'm heading to Asia!  I was inspired by a photo of Asian wallpaper and had to recreate it.

It is a Digit-al Dozen week!  Our prompt this week is paper - so you will see 5 manis from me all related to paper!  Today I decided to use tissue paper as my inspiration.  I have kept this piece of tissue paper for quite a while.  Drip Drop Nail Paint would pack her products in adorable prints of tissue paper and I knew I wanted to re-create this pattern.  This paper prompt was the perfect excuse!

Digit-al Dozen: The Lady of the Rainforest

It is Day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen theme: Rainforest.  I decided to do a Ladybug (or Ladybird or Ladybird Beetles or Lady Beetles) mani.  Ladybugs are not just rainforest critters - they are everywhere (for the most part) but they are still adorable, so hence this mani.

It is the last day of Digit-al Dozen Get To Know Me prompt.  I've been enjoying learning about my fellow DD sisters.  Today I will be sharing my passion, my love - theater.  I absolutely LOVE going to the theater - to be transported through imagination and art to another time or place with live acting is amazing to me.  The first play I saw live (other than high school plays which I watched as well as participated in) was Phantom of the Opera - the classic.  My husband and I donate to our local Broadway venue every year so that we can get some extra benefits (meeting actors, better parking, tickets dead center in the first 20 rows and of course tax write off! haha).  I decided to do a mani inspired by the only play that I have seen 3 times: RENT!  I also have a playbill that is signed by some of the cast that was in the movie!

Digit-al Dozen: Get To Know Honey Honey

It is Day 3 of Get To Know Me for the Digit-al Dozen and I figured I would post about something that I collect, love and respect.  BEES!!!  It all started when I was a child - my grandfather nick named me "Honey Honey" and from there, I seemed to be attracted to bees.  I got my first sting because as a toddler, I wanted to pet the furry insects.  OOPS!  (Lesson learned.)  My attraction continue through grade school and when I reached high school I had to do a "senior project" which entailed a paper, poster and presentation.  I decided to jump into beekeeping.  It was one of the coolest experiences I have ever done working with a local beekeeper in Washington state.  I even continued the obsession into my wedding and it was bee themed.

Digit-al Dozen Get to Know My Songs

Greetings and Nailutations,

It's day 1 for Digit-al Dozen week of "Get To Know Me."  Me?  Little ole me.  There is something that completes me - music, songs, a good beat.  I am almost always listening to music.  At work, I wear oversized headphones (teal) and since I have a sit-stand desk 50% of the time I am dancing and singing.  In meetings if someone says something that triggers a song lyric, I will bust out with the line.
Co-worker: that's bananas
Me: That shi- is bananas!  Bee-ay-en-ay-en-ay-es!

Co-worker: we are a good team, like family
Me: We are family....I got all my co-workers and me!

At home, I religiously play the game Song Pop - it's like name that tune with different genres.  You guess the name of the song or the artist.  This is what I play while I do my manis and while I edit photos.

Songs are memories.  I relive moments with songs - my wedding, my graduation, a good vacation, a concert and a movie.

It's Day 4 of the Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art.  I was looking for something with less color, something dark with little moments of brightness.  I needed something that was musical, you know - that had a "beat."  I found Black Grey Beat by Gene Davis.  I've seen roads and sidewalks painted after some of his striped works of art.

Digit-al Dozen: Pottery French Tips

It is Day 3 of the Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art and I decided to look at a different form of art - pottery! One of my sisters is what I would call an artist.  My folks' house is still adorned with some of her masterpieces - a leopard batik, a wooden unit that is carefully painted with apples (my mom collects apple things - it's a teacher thing!) and this ornate pottery piece.  I decided to look into pottery and found a piece that reminded me of china plates.

It's day numero 2 for the Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art prompt.  During my search for art on the inter-webs I wanted something simple and vibrant.  That led me to a piece entitled Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue? from Barnett Newman.  This piece stuck with me due to use of dominant red and how it takes over the image.

It's a Digit-al Dozen week and you know what that means?  Five days of nail art with one theme.  This week it is Art!  Now I will preface this by saying I am not the best at free handing art, so I needed to find pieces of art that go with my skill set (i.e. scribbling).  :)  I also wanted to fit in a Black and White mani for the Nail Challenge Collaborative.  Two themes and 1 mani!  BOOM!  Here is the inspiration piece of art: After Botticelli by Brice Marden (B. 1938)
