Lantern and Wren Assorted Matte Polishes Swatch and Review

Greetings and Nailutations,

*Press sample*
Today I have the first post in a 3 part series!  I was sent some products from Lantern and Wren, which is an online stockist carrying polishes, stamping plates, vinyls, latex barrier and nail art supplies.  The owner of Lantern and Wren originally started as Ellison's Organics.  This first post will review the polishes and the next 2 will be of the stamping plate and mani defender latex barrier!

Now let's get to the swatches! Note: I did had a matte top coat over the matte finish to aid in smoothing.

Let's get started with a bright neon called Talented.  Talented is a eye searing neon green that has a matte finish when dry.  Formula was great and photos show 3 coats with matte top coat.

Next is my favorite of the 4 (purple - no surprise) called Unforgettable.  It is a fun neon purple with matte finish.  Photos show 2 coats with matte top coat.

The last neon I have to share is Irresistible, a bright pink neon.  Photos show 2 coats with matte top coat.  In all honesty, I could have done 3 coats to hide the visible nail line.

Another absolutely stunning color is Enchanting which is a deep deep blue in matte finish. The formula on this one was a bit tricky - meaning that it dried VERY fast.  You have to work carefully, calmly and quickly in order to get a smooth finish.  I did see some pigment clumping on this one and due to the polish being so dark, it was difficult to steer clear of them, but I still love this polish - that deep color is to die for!

Matte Top Coat: Heather's Hues - Heart of the Matter

Loves: Neons!  I love a good neon and with a matte finish - YES!  I love Enchanting as well - that deep blue speaks to me.

Wishes:  I wish she had a neon yellow to go with these!  :)  I also wish I had tried Ellison's Organics/Lantern and Wren products sooner.

Also, check out the tutorials I have on her Lounge and Learn site too!  I did a gradient tutorial and a stamping tutorial.

Are you a matte fan?  Are you a neon fan?  Can you handle both at the same time?  :)

Happy Polishing,
Kristi aka BeginNails

  1. those are all great colors. I didn't realize the last one was blue until I looked at the bottle!

  2. So were these streaky without the addition of matte top coat? Blech the pigment clumping. Usually that means the maker has more work
    To do on their end.

    1. I wouldn't say they were streaky, it was more for my application. I have ridges on my nails, so many times mattes will just enhance those.

  3. I'm not particularly crazy about neons or mattes unless when used in nail art, so I don' think these would work for me. I'm a little disappointed to read about the clumping as well.

  4. That is the problem with mattes - they're often not that smooth just on their own. I have a hard time using a polish without top coat anyway. These do look pretty, though!

    1. Matte don't self level like cremes or holos - especially ones that dry super speedy fast.

  5. I am loving that pink! And I don't think that blue is Enchanting. That blue looks like Non-Stop/Sinners and Saints from her Hamilton trio. Enchanting should be a bright blue.

    1. I was comparing it to the site last night and also thought the same thing. I'm wondering if it was mis-labeled?

  6. I've never worn a matte. I'd be afrad it would be a one day wear because it seems like they'd be so soft

    1. As long as they dry completely and I add a matte top coat they should be ok...but I do wish there was a fast drying matte top coat.
