Digit-al Dozen: 80's Neon and Lace

Greetings and Nailutations,

Decades, yes that is what we are doing in the Digit-al Dozen this week.  Today I'm covering 80's - the times of neon, side pony tails, scrunch socks (remember those?), acid wash jeans with little bows and zippers at the ankles (how I wished I had a pair), crimped hair and lace.  Neon and lace need to be brought back...well maybe just on Halloween.  ;)

Now let's get to the mani!

Products used:
Nail Foundation (neutral base) from Butter London
Yoga Pants (black) from Drip Drop Nail Paint
Plate 3-03 from UberChic
Bebe En La Playa, Isla Bonita and Krystal Waters all from Bliss Polish
Cuticula Nail Tape (press sample)
Stamper and clean up brush from Clear Jelly Stamper (press sample)
Gem Glam Top Coat from Dream Polish (press sample)

I started with Nail Foundation base and stamped using a lacy pattern.  I used vinyls to create the neon stars with Bebe En La Playa, Isla Bonita and Krystal Waters as decals on my UberChic mat.  This was the first time I created little decals using the mat - need to do that more often!

Confession time - I am a child of the 80's, I crimped my hair, I wore it in a side pony, I wore acid wash jeans (not cool enough to have ankle bows though) and neon was all over my wardrobe.  Yes...there is photo evidence of these fashion/beauty mistakes trends.  :)

Be sure to check out the other manis below from my fellow Digit-al Dozen sisters!

Happy Polishing,
Kristi aka BeginNails

  5. I love how you've incorporated the neon above the neutral lace. I love 1980s styles and wish I had been a teen back then!

    1. Right? Me too! I remember being too young to wear lace, but I definitely sported the crimped hair in elementary school! :)

  6. Haha, I wish you would have shown some of that photo evidence!
I feel like a lot of the fashion trends took a decade longer to reach South Africa. I was a kid in the 90s but I would do dozens of little braids just so that my hair could look crimped... and as a teen in the 2000s I wore a 90s amount of eyeliner :-P

    1. Woo hoo to slouch socks! Scrunchies are probably safer on your hair (doesn't break) - so you are smart.

  12. I don't think I did or had any of those things except jeans with the zippers...and I think I still own a couple pair only because they were $150+ to buy and I dream one day I might fit into them lol!

  13. YAS! This is such a great look! I was a big wearer of the side pony tail. My favorite look was leggings with oversized sweater or tee tied to the side.
